I'd like to see APL function extended to all audio formats.
This comes in very handy in making compliations, in having several APLs pointing at the same section of a large file. That allows you to have say, "Get Your Wings" and "O, Yeah!" reuse one complete APE and several ape files to make both albums. Saves space on the hard drive and each APL is taggable on its own.
That also requires that APL files write the path to the source file. Then the APL doesn't have to be with the source.
Currently I can do this with APE files, but it requires extra steps:
-Rip to a single APE using EAC and write the CUE file.
-Move the APE and the CUE to whatever directory it needs to be in. For me it is
My Music/APE&CUE
-Edit the CUE file to add the path. "My Music\APE&CUE"
-Load the CUE into foobar
-Use foobar's Write APL function
-Move the APL files to the proper directory (Artist/Album)
-Import to MC
Easy, eh? It would be so much simpler to have MC create the APLs, etc. And there really seems to be no problem using APLs for other formats like MP3, it doesn't touch the source file after all. It's just a pointer.
If this were added, I'd happily send one dozen red bean mooncakes to J River. If it isn't added, I'll send three dozen...
