In mediacenter 10 and 11, if i set up the output to 5.1 channels, it works ok, but the bass is not as good as i want, so i tried different DSP plugins, like directX and dfx (6.1 and 7.2) but when i install them, the music is played with constant cuts.

is there any solution?

i have winxp sp2, soundblasterlive 5.1 and mediacenter is configured in directsound. ?

I too have had playback quality issues when using the 5.1 channel playback DSP option.  Often it will sound "chopped up" or "stuttering".  If I close and re-open MC, sometimes it will clear up for a few tracks and then come back.
