zxsix: Problem importing and playing a .vob file
« on: May 15, 2005, 09:35:23 pm »

Import a .vob file.  Edit tags on the file.
Run Theater View.  Select to play the movie.
They always start on chapter 2 instead of at the beginning of chapter 1.

Also, the play/pause button on my Microsoft keyboard is messing up as others have reported.  Was working before.

Which VOB file are you importing? Is it VTS_01_0.VOB?
It happened on several videos, or just one?

The DVD player has a bookmarking feature where it will start playing at the last place you left off. So if you start watching a video and stop it during chapter 2, the next time you play that video it will start off with chapter 2.

Is this what's going on? Try navigating back to chapter one and stop playback. Then see if starts with chapter one the next time you play.

The ripped movies are in folders called VIDEO_TS folder with the following files in it:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

I import the VTS_01_1.VOB into MC.

I renamed the "DVD bookmarks.dat" file located in %userprofile%\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Settings folder.

I no longer can reproduce the issue.  Could have been from me previewing the first few seconds of the movie to make sure the file played correctly.  Then when I watched the whole movie it was close to chapter 2 so it seemed that it was actually starting there instead of chapter 1.

Seems to be working as it should so go ahead and close this issue.
