Incompatible format on MP3 DVD
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:34:26 am »

can anyone tell me what in the hell is wrong with this software?  i've tried all kinds of settings for well over a week now in an effort to burn an mp3 backup dvd (actually, several of them).  every time i click burn, a few seconds later the disc pops out and i get a message saying "cannot write medium - incompatible format."  there's nothing on the burn list but standard mp3 files -- no aac, drm, none of that stuff.  someone please help me out and tell me i didn't throw away 20 bucks on this program.  thanks very much ....

You might want to edit yourself a little, this a nice place, with lots of folks happy to help and honey gets a lot more results than vinegar! ;)

I'm sorry you had a problem for a week, but you've only just posted, the J River people will be back on line after 7 am est, and unfortunately since I don't do DVDs I'm of no help, but someone will probably turn up that can.

It may not be a problem with the MC software itself, as I've seen many people here post about burning data DVDs.

In the meantime, it might be helpful if you pasted your system info in your next post, (Help>System Info - automatically added to the clipboard). Please also describe the problem in a little more detail, like settings you've tried etc.

Good Luck.

Did you try burning an MP3 CD?  Does that work?

i haven't done it for a while but it definately worked (back around 11.0.29x odd), insert a blank dvd, click on Burn (set it to be a DATA disk), put the files you want in it's queue, burn.  as far as i know there is no dvd based mp3 (audio disk) format.

obvious question: can windows by itself burn data to one of those dvd's?  ie is your problem with MC or the dvd media?
