Install problems when Firefox default browser?
« on: July 25, 2005, 01:02:19 am »

I had Firefox set as my default web browser when I tried to install MC11 on my PC.  After install I ran into a lot of problems importing and ripping.  Was getting error messages related to plug-ins.  Couldn't figure any reason for the errors so I decided to try complete uninstall then installing, but this time with IE as my default web browser.  Did small sample imports and rips OK.  Next reset Firefox as my default web browser and was now able to import all my files and rip a dozen CDs no problem.

Don't know if Firefox was the true cause of my problems, but thought I'd throw this out for anybody else who might be having problems.

I've used Firefox as my default browser for ages now (and before that, Mozilla) and I've never had any problems installing MC - and I've installed a LOT of versions of MC!  I'd be very surprised if it's the cause of your problems.

The reason I thought Firefox had something to do with it is cuz before I reinstalled I set IE as the default.  I was then able to import my mp3s, but still could not rip.

you're probably right though.
