Classical music/Album artist
« on: August 05, 2005, 06:49:44 am »

Hi.
Until now, for some reason I can no longer remember, I have manually copied the Artist tag to the Album Artist tag. Lately, though, I've been wondering if it is a good idea to use Artist only for the composer's name, and Album Artist for the performers name. In my view, both columns are always showing. Anyone with experiences to share regarding classifying and sorting classical music?

cheers,
ole k

I do the following...

Artist, Album Artist & Composer = Composer
Conductor = Conductor
Band = Performer

Thanks a lot for your reply. Looks good to me, yet: does this mean you leave the Artist and Album Artist tags empty and only fill in the composer, or do you write the same info in all three tags?

I fill in all 3 tags since I have many ways that I browse my music...easiest way is to select all the files with the same composer then copy to the other fields...that way u only copy/paste twice
