OT - Summer activities
« on: August 16, 2005, 05:17:48 pm »

Hi,

Just curious to know how folks are spending summer time.

For now I am in the big apple spending some great times with good friends. From tomorrow we will drive up north: destination the coast of Maine.
We're having some good activities so far: sightseeing, restaurant, parties, barbecues, music.... And yes I brought up MC on my USB key along with my favourite tunes.

Hope to have some pics to show when I will be back home.

Everybody have a great summertime and greetings to the users of MC here in NYC

Hi C,

I got back home in Barcelona last week-end after having spent a few days in NYC too!  :)

I did have a great time in the city, and purchased a ton of new music for the long winter. If you want to purchase some records, may I recommend "J&R" at Park Row (close to City Hall) in lower Manhattan. It's not a fancy store, the employees are not especially friendly, but they carry a huge selection of music of all styles and their prices are unbeatable... very convenient with the current Euro-US$ rate.

Take care and enjoy your visit!

Christian -

I wish I had checked this thread before now.  I live on the coast of Maine (specifically just outside of Bar Harbor / Mount Desert Island / Acadia Nat'l Park)...  If you want any tips of great places to visit or check out, just let me know.  You picked a beautiful time to come... It's been pretty perfect (weather wise) lately.

Hi Christian,

Welcome to the U.S.!  I hope you have your boys with you.

In Boston, have lunch at the Union Oyster House near Quincy Market.  Sit at the bar downstairs where they shuck the oysters.

In Portsmouth, New Hampshire, visit Strawberry Banke, a group of 30 or so restored colonial period houses.

Happy travels.

I spent a few days at a summer cottage without Internet. I had only slight withdrawal symptoms. Having a laptop and a music/video library on a 250 GB external HD helped a bit...  :)

Seriously, I had great time with my family and a couple of good friends.

I uploaded some landscape images I took there to JRiver photo gallery: http://yabb.jriver.com/cpg/index.php?cat=10040

Really nice pictures, Alex.  Looks like it wasn't good sailing weather.  About as calm as it gets.

Hi folks,

We're just back from the US where we had a really great time, me and my dearest one.  Jim, the boys were not with us this time.  ;)

Our plans did not turn exactly how we wanted, especially the Maine part, but all in all we had a really great time with friends and relatives in NYC, Westchester county and Connecticut.

David, thanks for the tip. Glynor, thanks for offering visiting tips for Maine but we could not finally go up there.

Thanks all,

Christian

Beautiful picture, Christian.  Thank you for posting it.

You're in Manhattan at the East River, with Brooklyn on the right.  What are the bridges?  I can't remember.  Darn.

Too bad about Maine.  It's one of the nicest places we have, I think.  Big and not too populated.  Misty.  Comme les camargues sans les bois?

Hi Jim,

You're in Manhattan at the East River, with Brooklyn on the right.  What are the bridges?  I can't remember.  Darn.
That's right. The mnemonic for the east river bridge is, according to a true New Yorker, to think about your BMW: Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg. Brooklyn is just behind us.

We will definitely come back to visit Maine and the north east part of the US.

Have a great day,

Christian
