BUG: error on new cd if not connected to internet.
« Reply #2 on: October 01, 2002, 10:27:06 am »

This bug refers to 379, I haven't check it on 380.

If I insert a new CD and I am not connected to internet, it tries to get the names from the internet databases very persistently. I have to press cancel several times and at the en MJ usually crashes.

8.0.380 Bug: Replay gain
« Reply #5 on: October 01, 2002, 11:37:40 pm »

Hay,
1. I wanted to leave MJB calculate the Replay Gain for all of my songs collection.
Guess want it crashed 380.
It seems that once MJB runs in to an ape file it marks it as ERROR and continue to mark all of the songs in that way, then finaly rolls over.
MJB handles replay gain fine with less then 20 songs at a time.

2. In order to process 70 songs, I add them to the "playing now" list. A song that is currently playing is proccessed by replay gain - I get error messeges.

My info is:
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.380

Old bug resurfaced:  You can't have 2 decoder streams running at the same time without them interfering with each other.

I thought this was fixed some time ago but either it wasn't or it's back.

  • Start playing mp3 files.
  • Burn a bunch of mp3 files (not the same mp3 files) in audio mode with "encode mp3 files directly to CD" unchecked.
  • Listen to the CD.
  • Chuck CD in trash.

As before it sounds like bits of the playback stream are interleaved in the burn stream.

It never worked on multi-cpu machines but this particular machine is a single 1.8ghz cpu.

  • Checking your hard disk for errors...

I have had no problems with MJ for several builds (nice work, JRiver).

However.....

Putting a CD whose info is not in the DB locks up MJ for quite a while. I did notice that my lookup DB was set to CDDB (which has worked fine in B380). I will try it with YADB but I have a feeling it will do the same thing. There needs to be a timed abort (user setable?) in such cases.

Thanks - Xenno

MJ not check free space
« Reply #8 on: October 02, 2002, 11:30:45 am »

Well, if ya try to convert songs format (APE -> MPC) to save space and you start of a 32KB free space partition. MJ locks.
Too bad :-(

Oh and I renew my request that mjb will show web radio station playlist items. Like Radio paradise shows up as six different urls in winamp, while MJ show only one.

Thanks,
niv

RemyJ,

The problem, you reported, will be fixed in next build.

I upgraded to 8.0.380 today and noticed some odd behaviors:

1) Installing on Windows 2000 Professional as a "Power User" gives a quick error that some .dll is in use. Going past the error doesn't seem to cause problems...yet.

2) Playing a large playlist with a playback filter applied doesn't update the "Playing Now" window properly. Once a track is being played that is past the ones visible in the window, the "Playing Now" window doesn't scroll the way it does when there is no filter applied (in order to see where the current track is in the playlist).

3) Along the same lines, when the playlist with the playback filter applied runs out, the status area just keeps toggling back and forth between "Buffering..." and the time display. Clicking "Stop" has no effect. If I pick a new playlist or remove the filter, everything appears normal. I would expect MJ to just Stop when there were no more songs available to play.

Let me know if you need clarification,
Brad
