MC11 Sort by BPM issues
« on: October 26, 2005, 04:04:33 am »

I have setup playlsit groups within MC11 for ease of cataloging my music. I have chosen to sort my music by "BPM" only. Have also chosen "save this view for all locations". however, the filtering will be afftective for:
- media library and all nested levels
- "playlists" and nested playlist groups

however, playlists within playlist groups are not adopting the filtering. for example the following is how I have it setup (items with a pink box to the right are those that are filtered correctly) How can I get those nested playlists to adopt the filtering? One thing I have noticed is that the single playlists have a "sequence" column that I can not seem to remove from the display - could this be the reason the filtering is not being adopted?

anyone know how to remove the sequence column?

I've search the forum and the help documentation and have not turned anything up yet.

you can't.

A static playlist is an ordered list of files and the seq. column maintains that order.

You could add a BPM column using the "customise current view" dialogue, click on the column header to sort by BPM, then use the "update order" command to save the new playlist order.

You'd need to do that for each playlist.

Another option open to you is to create one or more "playlist based viewschemes"....

Choose the playlist option as your first view scheme pane. Use ~sort=[BPM] in step 4.
The playlist option uses playlist groups, so you might need to reorganise the playlist tree node to suit your needs. Play around with it a little and you'll quickly get a feel for what's going on.
