Track sort oddity
« on: December 04, 2005, 11:32:32 am »

I've been experiencing a strange occurance with how MC11 sorts my album track numbers (currently using 11.1.71 and has been doing it with previous alpha and beta versions). If I choose to do a primary sort on track #s, it starts as you'd expect: groups of #1, 2, 3...26; then there's another group of #1, 2, 3...

If I take a particular album (in this case, !!! by !!!) and just do a sort of album tracks, this is what it looks like:
Tr#     TrName
1         The Step
3         Kookooka ...
4         Storm the Legion
6         Intensify
7         Feel Good ...
2         Hammerhead
5         There's No ...

No matter what I do - erase the 2 and 5, reimport files, etc. - I can't figure out why they're not sorting in numerical order.

Any thoughts? Archives came up empty so it may be a weird oddity of my actual files. Thanks, all.

try selecting the tracks and then use the 'clean file properties'  on the album field.
I'm wondering if there's any trailing spaces in there, so you'll be looking for convert double to single spacing and remove trailing spaces.

Hey Marko. Thanks for the idea, but unfortunately still getting the same problem. I just imported my music into WMP and the tracks sort properly. So, something to do with MC?

You may have "shuffle" on.  Try turning it off.

I'm experiencing the same problem, but only with chaning track sequence in playlists.  When I try to manually change the track order by dragging/dropping songs, the sequence # will change in correct response but it does not move up or down in playlist position.  Everything works fine when switching track order in "playing now".

Shuffle is not turned on.
