Enhanced Music CD's
« on: January 27, 2006, 01:02:25 pm »

Is it possible to rip both the songs and the video from an enhanced music CD using MC?  I seem to be able to rip the songs but not the video.  If MC can't rip the video does anyone know a program that can?  I'd like to rip it to mpeg.

I'm using 11.0.302 BTW and don't want to upgrade unless this functionality is specifically included in a higher version.

I can only see a CDA in explorer.  Any idea how I get to see the video file?

May seem a dumb question but is your explorer set to see all hidden files?
If you don't know the setting is under
Tools->Folder Options->View Tab
->Files and folders->Hidden Files and Folders

Yes I see hidden files, though mpegs would not be hidden files.

On your VCD, the video files will have a .DAT extension.  Just copy them across to your HDD and rename *.DAT to *.AVI - assuming you are not violating any copyright on the VCD.

interesting...

I only see the data files on the CD I'm looking at, not the cda files, and the videos are .mov files (quicktime).
it's a "CD Extra" disc. is an "enhanced CD" something else entirely?
(tracks rip just fine, which is a big improvement. this cd has caused MC more than a few problems in the past)

I dont't have a solution for the original problem, but I have in the past noticed that in some CD-drives I could see the autdio tracks (cda) but some drives showed me the data files, like videos. I never found any reason for this, so I assumed it was either an OS or hardware issue and left it with that...

Oh, and the audio tracks always worked in these cases, but videos were rarely seen.

Yes that's exactly what seems to be happening to me.  I wonder if  let my guard down once in teh past and let something autorun and let some nasty device drivers onto my machine?

I just tried on another pc and I can see the .mov files.  On my pc neither of my DVD drives can see anything but cda files.  Any ideas what to try to fix it?

Iwas getting horrible BSODs too on some occassions when I tried to access the DVD-ROM with the enhanced CD in.  Anyway I solved it!  The culprit was DVD/CSS Region Free software.  Once removed no more BSODs and now I can see the folders on the CD.
