Art Inside FIle Setting
« on: January 06, 2006, 02:21:48 pm »

Hello, I have all of my art set to - Specific Folder, and Store Inside Files selected.

When I look at some of the tracks, the Image File tag says "Inside File", and others say "C:\program file.......... and so on"
If I remove the art for the tracks that are marked C:\  and then put the art back on, it still does not say "Inside File"

So, How do I know that these tracks are actually storing the art in the files?

Inside file overrides in the 'image file' field.
I used to store art in the files but I don't anymore.
I just tested this a few weeks ago due to an ipod art bug we were tracking down.
If you have artwork in folder.jpg file only, 'image file' shows FOLDER.JPG.
If you have artwork in folder.jpg AND in the file, it shows INSIDE FILE.
If you have artwork in the file but no folder.jpg, it shows INSIDE FILE.

So the only way I've seen it NOT say inside file is if it's really not there.  That setting takes priority in all cases I've encountered.
Storing image file in tags is a checkbox in the options screen.

Ya, I kow... I indicated in my post that that is checked

However, I am seeing "Inside File" and "C:\Progr......"

Does anybody know how to verify that the art is all in the files?

AFAIK, the image certainly is inside the file tags if the Image File field shows "Inside File" and you can see the image in the AW window. AW shows always the actual image and MC does not have any other reference of the image file location besides what is available in the Image File field.

If the Image File field says "Inside File" and the AW window still cannot show it, then the image is missing for some reason or the file tag is corrupted. I have seen that happening sometimes. For example, MC shows "Inside File" for newly imported CUE tracks even the tracks are virtual and no physical files exist.

There are some third party tools that can show internal cover art images. That capability may depend on the used file format. What do you use?

Find an album that has some showing internal and some showing in c:\path\path\image.jpg

Highlight one of them that shows internal.
Rightclick and copy the image from the image preview in the action window.
Highlight the ones that show the C: drive path.
Rightclick and choose remove cover art.
Rightclick the image preview box again and paste in the image.
They should show the c: drive path for a brief moment, and then change to 'inside file'.
That's the experience I get when doing this with folder.jpg files.
