MJ8 dies after 2 minutes in Win2000
« on: September 24, 2002, 08:51:49 pm »

Hi,

I'm new here.  I downloaded a trial version of MJ 8.0 and really like its features and format.  I am using Windows 2000 on an ASUS K7M Slot-A Athlon motherboard, and I was running smooth for about 3 days.  Then while I was not dialed up to the internet, I inserted an audio CD and MJ went to lookup on CDDB.  The application erred out (no data found since I was offline) and gave one of those infamous "OK" Windows messages telling me that the MJ program was ending.  From that time on, the application will start up again fine and everything seems to be running great, but after about 2 minutes and out of the blue, the MJ application just dies and disappears.  No warning, no nothin'.   An uninstall and reinstall of MJ gives the same symptom of unnotified death as the application hits about 2 minutes of running time.

Any ideas what is going on here?  Windows Media Player and Musicmatch work fine and don't die.  I don't have any event log issues in Win2K, so I am suspecting a MJ bug (or trial version querk).   I would like to buy the app, but if I can't get this resolved, I will continue my search for a decent MP3 encoder with good CDDB options.

Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Thanks!     :P

This is usually the result of applying a crack to Media Jukebox.

Uninstall, re-download from JRiver, and reinstall.
