iPod rating to different field?
« on: February 10, 2006, 10:52:30 pm »

Since my wife and I both use our MC library, I've set up a second rating field for her (Rating2). Is it possible to configure the ratings from her iPod to sync to this second rating field instead of the main one, which is mine?

As it is now, she can't rate anything on her iPod because her ratings would actually be copied to my ratings field.

Thanks.

Possible (but ugly) work around:

Create a custom field for both you and your wife's ratings.  Then, as a first step of using the program copy your (or her) ratings to the ratings field - and as a last step, copy the ratings field back to yours (or hers).  Just don't hook up the iPod until after the program is running and the ratings have been copied.

This original poster's request would be a nice feature though for people with multiple users.

What would happen if you set up a second library for your wife, and chose not to "Save tags in files"?  Options > Library > edit Rating field.

If you switched libraries before syncing, you might be able to store 2 sets of ratings that way.  Of course, you wouldn't be able to see each other's ratings.
