Commandline Encoder Parameters
« on: March 07, 2006, 11:27:10 pm »

I'd like to know if MC will pass artist, album, title, etc to the commandline encoder. And if it will, what are the parameters?

Guess my search abilities are not up to snuff, I can find nothing in help or in the forums.

Thanks

This is not supported.  Encoding and tagging are discrete actions.

Must be why I couldn't find it.

Thanks for saving me more head scratching.

MC does all file tagging with the decoder plug-ins.

However, I suppose you could add static tag fields to the encoded files if the encoder itself supports including fields in the command line, but that information cannot come from the media library.

For example, you should be able to add a common album name to all encoded files by actually writing the field contents in the command line string.

Well, I'd rather not have to open the option, edit the command line, close, encode.
I'd still have to tag for title, track.
So, I'll just stick with what I currently do.

Just thought if MC passed the parameters then it would make things easier for encoding to 2 formats at once.

What command line encoder you meant to use and how?

The External Encoder plug-in aplies the source file tags automatically at least to converted MP3 and MPC files.

MAREO

Does a nice job if you have a need for multiple encodings. Handles running mp3gain, etc at the same time.
