Importing MP3 files into Media Jukebox
« on: September 21, 2002, 10:38:09 am »

Is there any way to have .mp3 files I import into Media Jukebox copied to the location where files ripped from CD's are stored, and placed into the MJ directory structure?

The source set of files are on a network drive and are not organized into folders.  Nor are they named properly.  However, all the tags are good and contain the proper information.

As Media jukebox organizes files ripped from my CD player into a nice directory structure (genre\artis\album\##-name.mp3) and names the files appropriately, I am wondering if the software can treat a file location as it does a CD drive or other removable source media.

Thank you.

Under properties/tools you have some options to explore.  MJ Help can be useful.

Sorry, but I don't see anthing under Properties, Tools or help that will treat files on a network as "new" data like data on a CD.

Could you please be more specific?

Thanks.

It's under Properties/Tools.

Did you try Help?

"Rename files from properties" would do the trick for you if you had the "Directories" button enabled. You can send them anywhere you want. You can also type in your own "Filename rule". This is one of the most useful features that MJ has and is hardly talked about. My opinion, of course.

Thanks!

"Rename files from properties" did exactly what I needed to do.
