MC cuts beginning of track because of low volume

I have a track that MC plays from about 3 seconds into the (very) audible music. The track has a Replay Gain value of 3.26dB and a 15% peak level. The Album Gain is -1.18dB.

This is a problem with Classical music I've encountered before.

Is the only way to stop this to go to Options and uncheck 'do not play leading and trailing silence'?
