YADB
« on: September 19, 2002, 01:15:32 pm »

Who's is it?
I've been running into a lot of CD not found where the CD was listed in CDDB.

I understand the cost thing and I respect that, but how long will it take to get this DB up to par if everyone else in the world not using MJ is using CDDB?

Any thoughts? Ideas? ?

Hi,

Check www.yadb.com/stats.html for an idea of how big the DB is. Are the unknown CDs popular? It's possible I have a bug in the lookup routine (I already fixed one).

I just finished  adding all the CDs with  European International characters, but if you are using Asian or Middle Eastern characters, then it will be next week before they are in.

One was for Marilyn Manson's "Holy Wood" the other was for The Michael Stanley Band, "Right Back At Ya".  As you can guess I'm in the "M's" while ripping.  The first is popular the second one isn't. I added Manson's to the YADB myself.  I was just surprised at getting 2 CDs right off the bat that weren't found and I knew they were found previously on CDDB.  I don't have any foriegn CDs.

Is the Manson CD store-bought or burned? I have one open issue with burned copies that I am working on - could this be what is getting you as well?

Thanks,

Store bought.  Right now I can't access the YADB at all.

Def. having trouble with YADB and MJ8.

I'm getting "failed to connect" now.  All else seems fine Internet-wise.

YADB is up and fine. Can you get to the website? Is it just the CD lookup?

When did you buy the CD? Recently or a long time ago?

I went to the website, no problem.

Then did a CD lookup and it worked fine.

Probably fairly old CD.

Not sure if any or all these facts connected. :)
