MC Icon - Menu vs. Tray
« on: April 30, 2006, 07:25:18 pm »

Why does the MC tray icon look so distorted when compared to the menu icon?

Is there anyway to sycronize the two so that the tray icon looks as good as the menu icon?

Am I the only one that notices this?

And, if so, why am I always the one with the weird PC problems?

I'm still trying to figure out where you found that menu icon.

The MC icons I have all look distorted.

I see it, and agree that they are curiously different.

To see them, go to windowed mode, and look at the taskbar.

An icon file has lots of sizes and color depths in the same icon file.

How Windows chooses which icon to use from insice an .ico is a bit of a mystery to me.

We may be able to do more to make sure the best looking icon is always used.  What places doesn't it look good to people?

Thanks.

To me its only in the system tray. Every other place icons are used looks fine. I thought this may because of a odd size to my taskbar, but I set it to the default size and it still looks funky.

For some reason, we had two different flavors of the Media Center icon getting used.

Next build should switch everything to the better looking version.  Let us know if you still see the old one after upgrade.

Didn't even notice that one until you said something.

The jagged icon is STILL showing up.

Play a video and then select 'windowed view'.

Now, look at the taskbar. There are two MC instances ("Media Center" and "Media Center Display")
The latter has the jagged icon.

I hope this helps. I could post a screenshot later if needed.

I am using 11.1.181
