Double-click the file you want to start playback with. (or select it before pushing the Play button)

Visible files means all files in the current list.  MC will start at the first file in the list unless you select a different file. (scrolling isn't enough)

the thing is, that does not play visible files... plays the first of library all the time... no matter what list is appearing in the screen.

Double-click a file on the right.  Playback will start with that file.

Here's an oh-so-useful "It works for me" post...

It works for me in 11.1.185

I want to point out that there is an option for PLAY button that reads "play visible files" that i want it working as it was in versions prior to 10.
When this not work, we are dealing with a workaround, which is not good for a program that surely is the best of its kind.
To be precise: when i want to review some artist or album, I just search for it having the located files in the screen as visible files.
Depending on what i want to do with visible files I select them.
When it comes to play I want to press play button, that not works, so I, not selecting, just click on the first tracks, and that's it. done!
If for some reason i forget the workaround and press PLAY button... the program plays the first track of the library and not the visible file.
Finally i have to say that I've managed my extensive collection with JR Media Jukebox first then with JR Media Center, for years, completely satisfied except for this small issue of PLAY button. ;D

I guess it's semantics.  To MC, "Visible files" means all files in the current list regardless of scroll position.

Hopefully getting in the habit of double-clicking on the right won't be too much of a pain.

At first I didn't understand this problem. I have never before used the "Play visible files" option, but I tried it now. I made various selections in the tree and in the new file browser and MC always played only the visible files.

Then I read this again:
Quote
I just search for it having the located files in the screen as visible files.
and could reproduce the problem.

For example:

I selected the audio branch in the tree. MC displayed my 39070 audio files.
Then I wrote "Beatles" in the search. MC displayed only my 257 Beatles tracks.
Then I clicked the play button and MC started to play the complete audio library instead of the 257 visible Beatles tracks.

Ah, I understand now.

What Alex described will be changed next build.

Thanks!
