Theater View: scrolling a webpage with the remote?
« on: December 10, 2006, 11:45:19 am »

When i operate Theater View with my remote control, if I click the "News" button, i'm stuck at whatever I get to, i can't click links, scroll the page, etc.

Am I missing something?

Yeah I've wondered about this too. I really don't see the point of adding web page items in Theater View if you can't navigate them with a remote. I've done away with loading any webpages in Theater View for this reason.

I guess I might ask "how do people use the web page functionality in theater view?"

All that would be required is for the right arrow to pass focus to the web window, then the up & down arrows would work.

That being said, the "News" function is the first thing that I have disabled from the Theatre view menu.  MC, Theatre View, music, films, TV are the antithesis of my efforts to get away from 'News'...

NickM:

Can you do this with MC as it is now?  Even when i get the keyboard out, i can't get the arrowkeys to scroll the website, tab around, etc, like i'd expect.  Can you advise how you've set it up?

By the way, i also disable the news part, but if I could get this to work like I want, I could access my ajax/girder-driven home-automation interface.  This would open a whole new world in MC for me.

I don't because of this and sizing limitations.  Very difficult to read on my TV.

Too bad it doesn't use the "cell phone and PDA" formatted versions of pages somehow...
