I arrange my artists by Last name, First Name.  I also do the same with any group that has "The" in front of their name.

So:

Dylan, Bob
Who, The

I realize that I am not in the majority when it comes to this, but I find it much more easy to find artists this way.

Problem is looking up the album art on the internet. I could not find album art for "Who, The - Tommy" - even if I tried loose matches. But when I changed it to "The Who - Tommy" album art was found.

Is there a possibility that  logic be added to getting album art to look at artists that have a comma in them and try with the comma removed and the words reversed?

I don't have an answer for your question, but I wanted to let you know about a related MC feature.

There is an option under Tree & View to determine how you sort.  If you select "Ignore Articles" (a, an the) it solves one of the problems you mentioned.

With this option selected, The Who would be sorted like Who (it drops the article).

I organise the exact same way. If I need to find cover art, I do it manually. ie. hit Amazon, search engines, discographies etc.

I'm slowly going through my old vinyl stuff, and I find it a pain to scan LP covers in pieces and stitch em together.

Mostly I can find good quality CD covers for these albums.

The only exception is the more rare, non-mainstream records which I have a few of. These I scan, stitch and patch up as best as I can.

I've never really used the automatic way of getting cover art.

Not that I don't trust it to find the right cover or anything...

I am not sure how Media Center Works.

But My Last Cover Art Finder (That Is No Longer On My WebSite) Would Find.

"The" - Removed From Front Of Song And Artist Fields
"A" - Removed From Front Of Song And Artist Fields
"&" - Replace With "And"  In Song And Artist Fields
", The" - Removed From Song And Artist Fields

And Then If Another ", " Was Found In The Artist Name Field, It Would Be Swapped So

"Owens, Buck" Would Become "Buck Owens"

So You Had A Better Chance Of matching The Artist Name And Song Name.

Some Other Items Could Also Be Used Like "Featuring", "Introducing", "F/" And Others Could Be Changed To "And" Since I Have Seen Them Used Interchangeably On Chart Listings And Album Covers.

This Was All Done In The Background.

It sounds like the functionality of King Sparta's old tools is what I am after.

Why are those tools gone? Do they not work with MC12?

Cover Art Finder 3 Does Not, they changed some thing.

I also think that for any multiple artist albums, album art should be searched for 3 times using

1. "Various"
2."Multiple artists"
3."Album name"

as the Artist name. This would dramatically increase the chances of finding art for those albums.

Personally, for various artist cds, I fill my album artist field with the album name, so that I dont have thousands of artists show up in viewschemes or on my ipod.

As Artist names your wasting your time.

There Is No Such Artist As "Various" Or "Multiple Artists" and it will only find junk.
