Avel Link Player
« on: February 16, 2007, 06:04:32 pm »

has anyone ever been able to get the LP to display theatre view, or really do anything usefull with Media Center. Other than be really, really slow. I love MC and would love to be able to access it from the TV. The LP is the most frustrating piece of hardware I've ever owned.

If I put a video card in my computer, could I just connect it directly to the TV and, with a remote control extender, do it that way?

The Avel Link should work with the UPnP server. Are you using auto-detection? Is it set to the Avel Link player? What is the option "Skip Child Count" set to?

I'll give mine a try on monday to test.

I tried audio, images, and video, all three worked fine for me.

Can you be more specific about what you are trying?

Thanks,

I can see those folders, and only those, but they don't look anything like on my computer screen, and I can't see thumbnails while browsing.

That's how the Avel Link and UPnP work. I'll do thumbnails one day, but they aren't implemented yet.
You should also be able to see the Playlists folder.

The Link Player is not a way to have Media Center display on  your TV, it's a way to get to your content, as it is organized
by Media Center, on your TV. If you want to see Media Center, you could get a HDTV and a video card that would output
to it.
