Thanks for the log file. Here I see a problem:

You have four identical devices (you said so in your original post, but it did not register in me).

I have to find a way to distinguish one from another. You picked one tuner, the program picked a (wrong) capture filter to connect to it. And the rest of connections failed. In a perfect world, the connection of one tuner to a different capture filter should not have succeeded.

I have to find a way to distinguish one from another.

I don't know if this helps you at all, but I use Digitalwatch2 at the moment, and it has the following info in it's cards file to identify each tuner.

Thanks. What you posted are the moniker display names of each device. I need to extract information from the monikers (right now I only get friendly name, which is the same for all four devices).  More importantly I need to map one of the tuner filter to the corresponding capture filter.

Right now I am temporarily distracted from the project.  Next week I will resume.

I just wanted to report that I have a Twinhan 102G DVB-S card and am using the their latest drivers. I have confirmed that both the hardware setup and drivers work with MyTheatre. This build does not recognize the card when I go to configure the TV settings.

I am very new to your software so if you would like any additional information please let me know. My system also has an ATI AIW and that card is recognized. I am located in the US if that matters to you.

The program tried to connect an ATSC or DVB-T network provider to a DVB-S tuner. It would fail. Sorry, currently we are only trying to support ATSC and DVB-T devices. DVB-S is not on the table yet.

Quote
11.1.160 (3/31/2006)

1. Changed: Added country list on "TV Channels" property page so that people without an analog tuner device can still select a country for digital devices.
2. Changed: More debug logging for TV.

11.1.158 (3/30/2006)

1. NEW: MC tries to resolve ambiguities when there are multiple instances of identical digital TV devices on the same computer.

Please let me know whether the changes above have improved DVB-T support. Thanks.

Channel scanning still isn't finding any channels.

Yaobing, I have mailed you the log.
Cheers,
Ray.

Please let me know whether the changes above have improved DVB-T support. Thanks.

I'm still getting a "Failed to play TV" when scanning for channels using a Hauppauge  Nova-T USB2.

Log file sent.

Just letting you know that my Twinhan 102G with the BDA drivers (which are suppose to simulate a DVB-T device) is still generating the failed to play TV error message.

Thanks for the log files. Looks like we have little progress here. Please hang up with me.

By the way, in the future please zip the log files before sending them. Some mail servers mess with text files and render unicode text file unusable.

I am not sure what to do with your case yet, considering that straight DVB-Ts do not work yet  :). Send the log file anyway!

Yaobing,
Do you want me to send you the hdfusion 3 card for testing or do you have some ideas about the initialization issues (can't switch between analog and digital, also switching decoders requires a reboot).

Just tried the latest build and it seems to work better. I can go back and forth from analog to digital channels and all of the 480p channels seem to work fine when I'm using the dvico HDTV decoder (bda)

I'm having some trouble with the 720p, and 1080i stuff, the screen starts out off to the right and smaller that it seems it should be. When I quit the 1080i channel MC just exited w/o warning.

When I changed the decoder to dvico HDTV DxVA decoder (bda) I get the 480p screen OK but then I run into that problem where I can't seem to switch between analog and digital (going back to digital from analog gives a 0 strength signal).

Hi guys,
Just found out about this product. I'm planning to build a HTPC with this media centre but i want to be able to receive digital tv. was reading this thread and i was wondering if this media centre support Hauppauge Nova T MCE Digital Tuner Card. I'm living in Australia which means it's a DVB-T, or does anyone have any experience with this card at all.

Thanks

DVB-T is not currently supported. We are actively working on it (although it is a bit slow in recent days).  Not sure when it can be finished, but I'd say definitely for version 12. Give 11.1 a try and let us know what you find.

sorry to be a pain, but which pci digital tv tuner card do you think you're more likely to support?
Hauppage Nova-T MCE
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_nova-t_mce.html
or
Avermedia DVB-T 777 digital hd tv tuner card
http://www.averm.co.uk/avermedia/aver/products_digitvtuner_dvbt771.asp?show=1 (closes i can find on the product)

Both are Microsoft MCE certified.
I don't mind doing testing for you. Just tell me which card is more likely for you guys to support and i'll go get it.

We are trying to make it as generic as possible. If both devices conform to the bda standard, they should both be supported. I appreciate help from users like you since we can not test DVB-T here in the US.

No problem... i guess both cards will work since both cards are MCE certified thus making them conform to the bda standard..
extract from this article

One very important note: if you plan to use Windows Media Centre Edition (MCE), you cannot just stick any old card into the PC and expect it to work. MCE requires specific drivers, called BDA (broadcast driver architecture) drivers, and you need to make sure that your TV tuner has the required driver support. If your card doesn't have BDA drivers, it won't work with MCE.

I've bought Avermedia DVB-T 777 digital hd tv tuner card (with bda drivers) and when i went into scanning for channesl, the signal strength is 0 and i can't get any channel at all. Where can i get the log file to post it so that you guys can have a look and see what's wrong with it?

Help -> Configure Debug Logging...

Check "output to a log file" checkbox, and select "TV" only for "types of events to log".

You can either click "Click to view current log file" or find it in C:\Documents and settings\[user name]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Log.txt.

Do not post it here since the log file is too large to be posted. Email it to yaobing AT jriver DOT com

Just re-tried getting my DVB-T card working on MC 11.1.183. 1st time I tried, scanning found 5 channels but then the process hung. Killed MC and re-opened. When I tried to play the channels that were scanned - nothing. I tried playing a few other channels but MC appeared to do nothing until about 30 seconds later, it died.

I re-started MC again and switched on logging. I removed all channels and attempted the process again. I can no longer scan/find channels without MC hanging. Since MC is hanging, I cannot provide a log (or can I?).

After killing the hanging process, go get the log file directly before you restart MC: C:\Documents and settings\[user name]\Application Data\J Rvier\Media Center 11\log.txt

OR:

Upon restarting MC after it hanged, choose Help -> Configure Debug logging ..., and click "Click to view log file from previous run".

Thanks.

Thanks for the log file.

I will need to find time to work on this, and need to find a (a totally new) way to get the channels scanned.

Has anyone tried the latest MC12 with regard to DVB-T support? It has only a small change, but I am hoping it will have some effect.
