Sync problem with 12.106
« on: November 13, 2006, 05:15:30 pm »

When I attempt to sync MC with my Dell DJ device I am encountering a significant number of files that will not transfer to the device due to "No transfer rights".  I am, however, able to successfully transfer these same files with Yahoo Music Jukebox.  MC is able to play these files on the PC.  Please advise.

Thanks.

Please update to the newest build of MC, which is currently 12.0.112, and try it.  The newest build can always be found in the "sticky thread" at the top of this board.

I have no idea if this will affect your problem, but it will be the first thing JRiver will ask you to do before supporting the issue.

If they were bought Thru Yahoo You Might Not Have The Rights Unless It Is From The Yahoo Jukebox. Just Like You Can Not Burn Yahoo Music To CD With Media Center But You Can With Yahoo Jukebox.

------------------------------------

Now Lets Say You Take Yahoo And burn The Song To CD As An Audio Track And Then Re-Rip It From The CD Then You Can Use Any Jukebox In The Future To Sync It With Your Player.

That Will Get Around The DRM, It Sounds Kind Of Lame Anyway Any 4th Grader Can Find Ways Around It So Why Bother.

I am able to transfer many other files that are from the Yahoo service.  The issue is related to the specific files that are not able to be transferred.

Syncing with MC can be very frustrating -- especially when you run into issues... you're on an island :(

I have upgraded to the latest version, 12.112, and the "no transfer rights problem" still exists.  I would appreciate some support in determining what is causing this problem.

mmoore99,

Can you turn playback and handheld loggin on, reboot, try to transfer one of the files that is giving you the problems and send us the log file.

To turn on logging, go to Logging in the Help menu, tick log to file, tick playback and handheld events, restart MC, attempt transfer, go back to the Logging dialog and email the log file to (rick at jriver).

Also, can you look at the Tags for one of the files that won't transfer, click on the 'Format' tag to show detailed format information and let us know what it says under 'License Details:.

Thanks,
Rick
