After tagging JPG's In Media Center they often (80% of the time?)
can not be opened correctly in Adobe Photoshop 7.
I get the error message
"Unexpected End of file"

Opening the same file in Photoshop CS 2
causes a similar message saying that the photoshop
data is corrupt, however  the image will continue to open.

I've just tested this on a file that was fine before.
Changed the "Places" Tag, and then the file will
no longer open in Photoshop.

Edit:
I've also tested this with the people tag
Also files tested are from
* Panasonic Digital Camera
* Canon A620 Digital Camera
* Film Scans (Agfa Film Scanner)
All with the same result
This is also not a new problem, I've been
seeing it for a while, but not had time to put my finger on it.

I get the same error messages with Photoshop CS 2. I wasn't sure if it was MC, but this appears to be the case.

What's the deal?

Same here too, though not for quite some time now, and I never mentioned it before because, like Mr. Chriz, I was unable to tie it down to anything conclusive. My initial conclusion was along the lines of it being something to do with the transition from 11.1 to 12, as I've not seen it (so far) with any of the newer photos that are "MC12 exclusives"

I never used MC11 for photos, so I'm fairly confident it wasn't to do with transition.

I agree with you, but am still no closer to understanding why this happens.

Using a brand new photo and build 119, I find that simply causing an <MJMD> tag to be written causes the "corrupt photoshop data" message.

However, loading up my "Needs editing" viewscheme, and loading a file with a fully loaded <MJMD> tag from buid 106 does not cause the photoshop error, so I'm not really sure what's going on, nor have I any idea what the photoshop data is. I've been assuming this is a metadata reading issue rather than an image corruption thing...

Is this still the case??

Just loaded ALL my photo's into MC (most of which aren't yet backed up) - if it's corrupting them that's a REALLY big major issue!!

I have 10yrs worth of photos there and unlike music - a photo cant be replaced once lost.

The integrity of my photos has gotta be super high priority with this software!

I don't believe the image data is being corrupted, no. I think it's only a meta data issue.

Both the exif data and the iptc data both remain intact and readable.

We'll take a look and try to have a fix early this week.

It may be something as simple as a little disagreement about how a certain IPTC field should be saved.

Agreed, all the images open in just about everything else
and the image quality seems uneffected.

Cheers Matt  :)

Works great, Cheers Guys.
If anyone has got any photos that were corrupted in previous versions
I've just tested, and if you change a tag in 125, it fixes the corruption,
since it rewrites the tags  :)
