Spell Checker?
« on: September 04, 2002, 06:41:06 am »

Does anyone know of a third party utility that will spell check the ID3 tags?  A quick search on Google didn't yield any results.

My "kludgee" way of doing it right now is to export to HTML and then spell check it in MS Word.

Can you come up with a list?

Correct Spelling?
Incorrect Spelling?

For Each Word You Want It To Correct?

If you will look at the Autocorrect option in Word i can do the same thing in Chart Finder.

If so I can put it in my program.

KS,
There's two parts to this:
1) look for matches in the full dictionary
2) look for matches in the custom dictionary

The process is not so much "Search and Replace" or "Autocorrect" as it is to show any words in the fields that are not in these two dictionaries and let me make the choice as to whether to skip the word or correct it.

I will send you the entries that I have added to my custom dictionary.

I like the search and replace this way you do not stop the batch for user input

KS,

I can't see that I could possibly know ahead of time what to pre-define...

Here's an easy example of what came across from the CDDB:

"Delphonics - Didn'tI(Blow Your Mind This Time)"

It should be Delfonics and Didn't I (Blow your Mind This Time)

Yes, you could do a search and replace on Delphonics to Delfonics but what if it was input as Dellphonics or even Dellfonics.

I really think it needs to be interactive.  There's just too many variants.

If you want, I can send you a Word doc that has my current file list (just by Song Title and Artist).  That way you can run it through Word and take a look at the spelling errors.
