File Naming on transfer to handheld
« on: December 31, 2006, 05:39:57 am »

Hello Folks,

first of all I wish you all to have had a good X-Mas time and having an even better New Years eve/day! Here is my question to you, afraid it might rather end up in a request to the MC 12 Programming Team:

The only mentioning I found about the "File Naming on transfer to handheld" is from 2004 !!! I'm pretty surprised that there is no option in MC yet to name the files according to rules as for example in the Lib-Options. To me, and hopefully for others as well, it would be a big help to browse through the many files I have on my 120 GB harddrive hocked up to my new BLAUPUNKT MP3 car tuner. This devce has a super TFT display, but does not show MP3-tags during file browsing. Therefore, even though I'm using dir-pattern [Genre][Artist][Album], it is impossible to identify an Album Track, for MC names it accoring to its internal rules [Artist]-[Album]-[Track #]-[Name]. As the display is not showing the whole, by the way very long file name, I only see what I already know by the īdir-structure  :P

Now, it would be of great help, if the MC user could influence the file naming for the handheld sync, so that in this example it would generate file names like [Track#]-[Name].

Is there any hope to see this soon in MC? Or is there already a way to work around somehow?

Again, best wishes from the centre of Germany

How about just going to Options -> Handhelds -> Files & Paths?

Edit : Ah I see, that's only for directory path.
