Is this a bug or is MC just doing things different?

I have noticed a small issue ID3 tags and MC12. If I tag a file using almost any other mp3 software out there and i tag the (Album Artist) field it seems to be universally recognized by all other programs as such (they all pick up the Album Artist field fine). With MC 12 the Album Artist field is really the (Band) field. Was this done on purpose or is this a bug?
