Need Help! Looking for DataImporter Plug-in...
« on: September 24, 2007, 10:35:36 am »

I'm trying to find KingSparta's Data Importer plugin.

I recently lost a hard drive with all of my pictures on it. I didn't notice right away and ran an Import in MC and since the pictures were gone, MC deleted them from the database.

Now I have a backup, so I have my files - no problem on that front. Since these files are all TIF files, the tags are NOT within the files. I have spent months tagging those thousands of files!

Knowing that MC did not save tags to TIF files, I had back then used KingSparta's DataImporter plug-in and saved an XML file containing all of the tag information for all of the pictures. Those XML files are also in my backup.

But re-import the tag information from the XML files back into MC, I need the plug-in which I have lost.

Does someone know where I can find it?

Thanks!

...Michel.

Thanks datdude. But King only has DataMaster up there now... I Use Datamaster almost everyday - A fine plug-in.

But I don't think it can read the XML files that DataImporter created. :-(

Hmm, I don't remember DataImporter, maybe it was called something else?

I believe it was short lived and replaced by DataMaster.

What it did was very nice. It took all the MC metadata for each file and created an XML file containing the metadata along side of it.

It was perfect for file formats that MC cannot tag to, such TIF files etc...

I have my XML files, but I can't find the plugin to import the data from the XML file. And since my photo tagging has around 20 custom tags each, re-tagging 15,000 photos is going to be horribly long...

I whish I had noticed this before. I could at least go back to a library backup, but it's been months I think.... I haven't done any photo work since late last winter...

Hopefully KingSparta will see this and help me...

Thanks.

PS: If your using MC12 It May Not Work.

It Was Made For MC11 And Things Have Changed Since Then, But It May.
