Compress then move to iPod
« on: February 25, 2007, 04:55:11 pm »

I'd like to move approx 200 of my 1,000 CDs to my iPod

CDs in MC12 are almost all FLAC

I'd like to move them to the iPod in a compressed format.

Ideally, song ratings, cover art, and all track information would move over too.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Also, I'd like to create some playlists for that subset of my music ... easy to do that too?

Apologies in advance if this is in the guides / faqs ... I looked but didn't see it.

This is so easy you're in luck.  First, I would suggest the rating model.  Rate all songs you want to sync 3,4,5 stars.  2 stars is for songs you dislike and 1 star is for special songs such as talk, biography, meditation, storm, running water (meditation), or anything strange and usually long.

Then create a smart playlists with audio only and rating=3,4,5 .  Now add your iPod and then go to device options.  Select the playlist you created and view the options.  You can configure auto re-convert settings and cover art seems to be added without option (and ratings, too).
