Correct me if I'm wrong, but after I upgraded to version 12 it isn't possible to make tag and rating changes on a networked PC and have them appear on the main PC.  Is that because of this new 'feature'?

To clarify how I use Media Player, I have a shared drive with my music and pictures on it on my main PC, and I occasionally import the library into the remote PC.  In version 11 I believe I was able to make tag and rating changes on the remote PC that would be reflected on the main PC.  This was a very useful feature. Is the feature above preventing me from doing this or is there a setting I need to change?

If you share the same library (i.e. library at \\MyNetwork\MC Library), the new multi-user rules apply.  It's a nice system for a home network.

If you use separate libraries, MC 12's "Auto-Import" can be used so that each computer detects changes made by the other.  Look in Options > Library.

Finally, you can use Library Server, but this is always read-only. (but it works from anywhere in the world -- not just a LAN)

Only the Library Server option was available in MC 11.

The 2nd option you described works for me. The 'update for external changes' checkbox effectively keeps both libraries up to date with tag and rating changes from the other PC.  Perfect.

I can see how others may like the read-only feature too.
