Silly Cover Art Question?
« on: March 01, 2007, 02:48:49 pm »

Hi,

Have finally got around to sorting out cover art for my 105K audio files.

Approx 40K tracks already had cover art assiciated to them, using the "cover art" directory method.

I changed that method to artist.album.jpg and also ticked the store in tag option too.  This is great and have worked fantastically for the new 60K cover art etc.

Question is how do i convert the old files that still use the cover art folder to the new method.  I beleive it may be to do with using library tools - update library from tags (or vice versa).  I am not sure which to use.

Also what i would like to be able to do is copy all of these jpg's for all 105K files (approx 7500 albums) to a seperate folder (say the old cover art folder) so that i can back it up easily (and seperately for archive purposes)

Any thoughts or assistance would be great

Many thanks

Graham

I think I've got an answer to one Q.
"Also what i would like to be able to do is copy all of these jpg's for all 105K files (approx 7500 albums) to a seperate folder (say the old cover art folder) so that i can back it up easily (and seperately for archive purposes)

If you have some structure on your folders containing the music files (and the album art) just do a windows file search for jpg in explorer starting in a folder with subfolders containing your music.
Copy the result of your search to a "cover art folder"

Thanks Noman - great idea for that.  I will do that once they are all in the right place.

I knew it was worth asking my question here.

Any thoughts on the other one?

I believe vice versa - Update Tags From Library - will put the image in your audio file. However, moving the art from your cover art folder to the same folder as your music (is that what you're wanting to do? - I've kind of guessed that from your post) isn't automated within MC, so can be a bit of a task.

Here's a link to a solution I think may be useful - it talks about Folder.jpg but will work just as well for artist.album.jpg.

In point 5 replace Folder.jpg with [Album Artist (auto)].[Album].jpg to use your filename rule and ignore point 8.
