I bought these two chips:
AMD, $69

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115013How would I even go about figuring
1. Which processor is actually faster? I know the Intel processors are incredible but ya know, who knows?
2. Which of the two new boxes demands the faster processor.
3. Interestingly enough, in my current system I built December, I have a Core 2 Duo which is better than the Intel I purchased above. So, theoretically, I could take that Core 2 Duo from my desktop and use it in one of the two applications above...then put the cheaper Core 2 Duo in my desktop...probably not necessary but I could.
The AMD has the advantage of having D-Sub built onto the motherboard--the Intel motherboard I preferred, by chance, does not have onboard video. It's the Fa1ality series so there is no legagy junk, like parallel or low-end graphics. This would be better for my HTPC because I have a X1300 PCI graphics with DVI I could use. This would go right to my TV. Otherwise, D-Sub is worthless for my HTPC because I need/want DVI anyway.
