My first attempt at my own visualization in Vis Studio. Its pretty simple, but I like it and maybe others will too. Your music will need to have album art for it to work properly. Shows the name of the song, artist, album, time remaining, and works well when viewing on a tv. You can download it at the link below. If anyone else has some good ones, consider sharing.

Thanks! I couldnt figure out how to post a screen shot, which shows how technically challenged I am...and consequently, how easy it is to mess around with Vis Studio. I have a few other slight variations to the same visualization. I will try to get them out there for everyone to download.

Here is the link to three very slight variations of the original.

The first variation simply removes the faint red box that highlighted the song title.

Number 2 turns off a "Flush" and allows the bottom of the spectrum to more evenly "bleed" at the bottom. The only thing I dont like about this is, it results in the track info/text also bleeding. I cannot figure out how to fix this, so if anyone knows how, please let me know.

Number 3 - same as number 2 but adds pretty and alternating colors to the "bleeding".

Instructions (thanks to a cut and paste from globetrotters1):

1. download the RAR file from the link above:
2. unrar/extract the files -- (WinRAR is free on download.com)
3. move the .mjv files into the "c:/Program Files/J River/Media Center 12/Visualizations/Vis Studio/Spectrum Analyzer" folder
4. set Display view to the Visualizations/Spectrum Analyzer/....which ever of the three Bleeding CoverArt Spectrums you choose

Yet another variation here, possibly the best. It is a compromise on the placement and amount of track info/text which keeps it from fading with the spectrum. I believe I am now done jackin with this darn visualization.

After you click on the link, look carefully at the bottom of the screen. You should see a grey box with a big orange Download button.

These are really great. Thanks!

The only problem I have is unless I have the display quality setting set to "highest quality (slowest)", all lettering looks really bad (out-of-focus). This is fine but it sends my CPU usage through the roof as a result. Is there any way to improve the look of the fonts without needing to do this?

Hey Raym,

I have not had the problem you are describing and I always use the normal quality setting. I thought changing that would only effect the quality of the cover art and not the text. The screenshots I posted were using the normal quality. I don't know what option Marko was using, but his text looks crisp...actually it looks crisper than mine, which I assume maybe my old pc running on a pretty low resolution.

Did you try the last viz found in reply #8? It is the one I recommend for everyone to use, as the prior versions did have the problem of the text bleeding with spectrum, which I thought was very annoying.

The only other thing I can think of is for you to experiment with different fonts. It could be that your computer does not like the fonts I chose. I noticed that my computer did not even recognize a few of the options. You can open up Viz Studio, scroll through the fonts, see if any others look better, select save and you should be good to go. Hope it works.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm using your latest. I dunno what it is. I am using a high-def LCD TV though so this might do a better job of showing up such imperfections compared to a normal CRT. I've tried other fonts and the results are consistent.

Never mind. Having said all this, at the highest quality setting, it looks fantastic!

The method of keeping the text at the bottom clear is a neat one.

You could turn your 2 transforms into 1 to keep frame rate up on older machines. Slow zoom & colour cycle in the one tf.

Thanks, Tab. I tried your suggestion and remembered why I needed two....got to have the "medium fade" in there as well or the image just results in a big blob of colors. Let me know if I missed something...I'm new to this stuff...

r=.95+abssin(t)/10;g=.95+abssin(t+2.1)/10;b=.95+abssin(t+4.2)/10;t=t+.02;
the other transform colour eqn is
r=.95;g=.95;b=.95;

All you need do is multiply the 2 values together - or produce something similar keep the maths simple, such as maybe
r=.9+abssin(t)/10;g=.9+abssin(t+2.1)/10;b=.9+abssin(t+4.2)/10;t=t+.02;

Play with it till you get exactly what you want.

Its not necessary, but will give you better frame rate, less resource use, and thus allow you to do more things in one visi.

There are various causes, it all comes down to the modules & equations youre using, plus whether the PC is able to keep up with it all. Would need more info really.

Here are some visualizations that were created a number of years ago. I would give credit to the individual that created them, but all I know is that they were called Barrets Visualizations. I attached a zip file to the post, change the extention from .jpg to .zip.
