How about 1 year ago.

I'm interested in buying a solid state 32GB drive sometime.  I don't need much desktop space because everything I store goes on my server.  Solid state drives are approaching 100MB/sec while normal hard drives are ~60MB/sec.

Compared to magnetic media, prices are all over the place.  It used to be $10 per megabyte for memory.  Now we're at 512MB per $10, or ~500 times the memory for the same price.

How do these solid state drives compare to USB flash drives?  Is it similar memory technology?

Granted that was before personal computers

In 1983 it was about $1,000 for 1 meg, I had it hooked to my Atari 8 Bit Computer As A Ram Drive

I definitely understand prices were much higher than what I described way back...imagine further back.  $1,000 per KB?  I bet there was a time!

My Dad Got Me Interested In Computers When He Was In The Air Force. I Later Spent A few Years In the Air Force Too. I Wanted To Follow In His Foot Steps, But The Air force Had Other Plans For Me That I Did Not Like So My Stay In The Air Force Was Relatively Short (I Was Sort Of Drafted And Sort Of Volunteered). I Thought I Could Avoid Going To Vietnam Going In The Air Force. Needless To Say That Plan Did Not Quite Work Out.

In The Early Years Computers Had Relatively Little Memory And Most Data Was Stored On Cards, Or Tape I Actually Worked On A 5 Meg Hard Drive When Helping My Dad (A Father Son Moment) That Was About 4 Feet By 4 Feet. I think It Had Like 50 Read\Write Heads.

The Computer Was Used At The Othello Air Force Base. The Building Movie Theater Was About 40 Fold Out Chairs, I Also Watched 2001 Space Idiocy There When It First Came Out. I Bagged Groceries At The Commissary For Tips, It Had Two Rows Of Food. I Bought My First Two Albums At The PX It Also Had Two Rows.

Time For Dinner, I Am Making Wonton Soup, Egg Rolls, And Fried Rice, Sue Likes It When I Cook.
