Remove Window Border from Detached Display?
« on: November 15, 2007, 03:30:39 pm »

Is there an easy way to remove the border (and minimize, maximize, close button) from the small display that gets created when you detach it?

Or... is there a Vista Sidebar gadget that will show the album art of the currently playing song?  There was a thread talking about one, but the thread was locked and he link goes nowhere for me...

Thanks

I did this for my video wall...  We have 8 42 inch DLP screens, with 5 different detached displays running in MC, and I needed to have them all look seamless (rather than like computer windows).  I made a special skin that had almost no borders (I kept a bit of a top border so you could still grab onto the window to drag it around), and which had no buttons.

I can post it on Monday if you want.  I'm home for the weekend now, so I can't post it till then.

there is also a skin floating around on the third party etc forum that looks terrible  8), but has the borders brought back to a 'minimum', so it still has the minimize etc button because the borders are used for others forms also. but the left and bottom border are gone and the others partially. i suggest you wait till glynor is working again, but when you want to check it out, the skin is called caligari.  :)

Glynor - that sounds cool if you get a chance to toss up some instructions.

What would be ideal would be an actual Vista Sidebar for that type of information.  It looks like one was being worked on:

But that thread has been moved and I don't have access to the new thread... trying to track down a reason for that...

Thanks,

Try this: http://home.roadrunner.com/~edandjenn/mc/skins/BorderlessNoire.mjp

To install it, right click on the above link and choose Save Link As (or the similar command for your browser).  Save the MJP file to your desktop, then double click on it to open it with MC.  It'll download, install, and activate the skin.  It is identical to Noire in every way except for the window borders.  This primarily affects the Detached Displays, but also affects any dialog boxes.  It is best to USE MC with it in normal Noire mode, and then just switch to this one for presentations and whatnot.
