Rename tag properties in detail pane not working
« on: November 18, 2007, 09:43:09 pm »

I'm finally switching to MC12 from MC11.  I started doing some more library cleanup and the rename properties in the detail pane isn't working.  Tried F2, right-click->rename, and Edit->Rename -- nothing works.  In the tag window, the tag can be updated okay.  Checked this on two machines.  Uninstalled, and reinstalled the oldest MC12 I had -- V12.0.279.  In .279, the F2/Rename feature works properly.  Doesn't work in .318 and .370, the other two versions I tried.  Still using Windows 2000.

Nothing weird in these computers.  I haven't changed the keymapping or anything.  The machine I tried the different versions on is a fairly new clean install from a couple of months ago.

I can't think of anything else to try?  Any ideas?

Doug

I'm not using windows 2000, so it might not help much me saying that it works fine here for me.

Is this something that affects all tags for all file/media types or just specific ones?

Good thought.  Just tried a couple .ape and .mp3 files.  Nothing works on the recent V12s, just the older version.

Just to make sure nothing changed on me, the files weren't read only either.

Didn't mention before, but I did search the forum a bit and didn't find anything similar.  I do wonder if it is Win2K related.  I remember a poll from a while back where most everyone was running XP.  I would have expected others to have found this sooner, so there must be something different.  Just don't know what yet!

I know there were a lot of changes made to MC's list controls a while back. I have no idea what build first implemented them, though. They completely got rid of the stock Microsoft list control in favor of their own. I wonder if there's something in there that relies on some component that's not available on Win2K?

Verified. Looks like a bug w/ 2k.

Just tried .275.  Fixes the problem.  Now on to more tagging...

Thanks!
