Possible to launch Theater View from desktop icon?
« on: October 22, 2007, 10:21:51 am »

Hello all,

Are there any command line parameters that can be used to launch MC12 in Theater View from one desktop icon, and use the same parameters to launch it in Standard View from another icon?   So basically I'd like two icons on my desktop, one that would be titled something like "Watch a DVD in the Theater" and the other would be called "Listen to Music".  This would simplify things for other members of the household who aren't as familiar with the details of MC12's interface.

Thanks!

From here:

mc12.exe /Mode [modename]
[modename] can be one of the following:
* Standard, Megame, or Windowed   (Standard View)
* Minime   (Mini View)
* Fullscreen   (Display View)
* Theater   (Theater View)

Thanks!  I've been digging around the wiki, but couldn't find it.

How exactly do you implement this (where do you type in the command line parameter)?

Right-Click on the Desktop->New->Shortcut
The the location of the item: mc12.exe /mode theater
Type a name for this shortcut: Theater View

There ya go...

Hmm, for some reason it's not working for me.  I tried it from a shortcut and from the command line.  In both cases MC starts up in standard view.  Here's my command:

"C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\Media Center 12.exe" /Mode Theater

Am I typing something wrong?

I noticed that in the Wiki, but there is no file on my computer called MC12.exe.  My MC executable is named "Media Center 12.exe".  That's what the v12.0.338 installer put there, I haven't done anything unique to my installation.

This isnt working properly for me.

If I have mc set to startup in theater view in MC's main options, the command line modes dont work. If I have it set to load up in standard view, then the command line modes work.

Pillow fighting.  You'll have to pick one method.
