Problems FFWD\SEEKING WMV files On Network\Laptop
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:15:07 pm »

ive had this issue for some time now many versions. but ive always just converted all my wmv's over... I recently stumbled across alot of WMV files.

When i connect to server from laptop, and play back these files, they play fine, but i cannot Seek\Fast forward. it is only with WMV files?

Ive opened up these files in windows media player on laptop and nero showtimes, and the play fine and also FFwd and seek just fine.

Any ideas please?

It would be nice not having to convert all these WMV files over.

Thank you.

Check the client - do you have conversion enabled?

WMV = Windows Media Video

BTW, are you planning a video conversion option? Is the new JRiver codec used anywhere?

I have the impression that seeking video files does not work with Library Server, but I have not tried that recently.

I use the "shared library" feature instead of Library Server. When a shared library is used the media files are played directly from network folders and all file types can be played without problems.

ive tested all my video files and they work its just the WMV.

When you say shared library... is that a diffrent setup i would have to do?

just goto netowrk places and copy the shared folders into jrvier and then make playlists?

It is different. This wiki page has a chapter that explains how an MC library can be shared on a LAN. The article is about DVD video, but the system works with all file types.

You can find more info by using the forum search.

Sorry Alex, I'm not thinking well today. No, there is no video conversion option as of now. I was confusing a different problem where content length is specified for non-converted audio, but not specified for converted audio...
