default view
« on: September 02, 2007, 10:45:45 am »

Hi, I edited the view scheme for audio, and now I cannot seem to get it back to the way it was originally (as default).

What I want is to show a pane for Artist, a pane for Album, a pane for Genre, and then a pane to show the files.

So, selecting things in the Artist pane applies a filter on the next pane, and so forth.

I really cannot seem to get this back with the latest MC 12.0.308

Any pointers?

This is one way:
Main Menu > Edit > Reset All View Schemes To Default

To reset sorting, columns, etc. (but not view scheme details) in a view, put your mouse over the text title of the view's header and pick "View Layout > Default".

There is something that drives me crazy. Every time I make a New Playlist, the View layout always shows 3 columns I don't want: Date, Ratings, and Genre. I tried changing the Audio layout (at the top), I chose the Option Apply to Child Views, but to no avail, the New playlist always comes with those 3 columns. I made a custom View Layout that I have to apply to each new playlist. I want to change the Default view. How can I do this?

Create playlists under a playlist group.  Make the playlist group look how you like, child playlists will inherit it.

A simple fix would be: let the user Save a view layout called "Default" and have it *overwrite* the current Default.  If I save "Default" now I end up with two Default view layouts.  It seems like a great implementation without any extra UI...just behind the scenes.
