Now that Galleon is open source...
« on: January 13, 2008, 03:34:31 pm »

Just wondering if maybe you guys had thoughts of comparing notes on the way MC handles connectivity with Tivo, VS Galleon.

I'm not saying swipe the code, but Galleon is WAY WAY more stable with Tivo connections (at least for me) that MC has ever been.

I get piles of the #3-5-6 errors, etc from Tivo when connecting to the MC server, but I virtually never have any problems connecting to the Galleon server.

Unfortunately, Galleon doesn't do smartlists (baaaa!), which are fantastic, so, here I am again in the endless loop of resetting TIVO, the server machine, etc, over and over till MC finally decides it'll allow a connection.

Maybe it's just a matter of "dotting an i" so to speak with some element of the protocol?

Anyway, just a thought. Besides, reading code is good for the soul<g>

Are you using a current version of MC?

Just updated to 451, (looks like I need to go to 462 now<sigh>)

But, the good (hell, the GREAT) news is that whatever has been done in the recent MC12 versions seems to have corrected the issue. Tivo now seems to work every time I bring up my server.

Very nice!

Thanks
