Recommendations for a UPnP standalone music client?
« on: April 07, 2008, 01:32:35 pm »

I'm looking to put a player box in my kitchen, just something that will wirelessly connect to my network and play playlists via UPnP from MC12.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not looking to do video, I'm hoping I can find something reasonably inexpensive sans the video.

It'd be ideal to have speakers in the actual device (like the little BOSE CD player box, that sort of thing).

Any thoughts, or is there even such a beast?

Thanks

Try the Freecom MusicPal. Cheap and cheerfull. It works with MC12. Use the upnp-server in Advanced mode and make sure the option "Omit Host Portion Of URL" is checked. Other options are not relevant, at least in my setup.

Thanks for the pointer
That looks like it might just work. It's got a line out and stereo out too, which is very nice.

Do you know if you can mute the built in speaker so that it only outputs to the stereo out (I'm probably going to hook it up to a low end amp for patio speakers as well....

Thanks
