Help getting Correct TV on J River MC
« on: March 09, 2008, 08:00:37 pm »

Hey,

I just got J River Media Center, and i got it running on my media pc, it uses ATI Radeon All in Wonder 9800 PRO. I use Sound Blaster LIVE for sound.

I just threw in the Happauge Win-Tv 950 USB to it installed drivers. I dislike the WinTV unit, how i need to open up winamp and such to watch movies, so i got MC

Now, i know my Graphics card has a Analog TV receiver, but i have a small issue

when i setup everything. TV adapter plugged into win-tv. Video is fine, but Audio didnt work. so i updated sound drivers, now sound and video dont seem to work. it all seems to be conflicted, so i got Video but no audio on the MC. i tried other MC and they dont cut it compared to MC.

Note: When using the All in Wonder's Adapter for tv, the video feed is horizontal, and not fullscreen, on the wintv its full screen and nice to watch. if you have a solution for this, i can use the AiW's Analog rather Happauge.

In Playback options for MC, try switching between DirectSound and Wave Out.

ATI AIW may require a cable from the audio out jack to Line-in of your sound card. Check ATI instructions. If that is a requirement, you must tell MC so. TV Tuner -> Options -> Audio, Check "This device requires a cable to route sound directly to sound card" checkbox. Then select the sound card from the "Choose Mixer Device" drop-down list, and "Line-in" (or similar) from "Choose Audio Line" drop-down list.

For WinTV, it most likely is the opposite - you should uncheck the "This device requires a cable..." checkbox. You may need to select a different audio renderer as Jim suggested. The option is at Tools -> Options -> Playback -> DirectShow Playback Settings...
