MC changes file extension

When I import video from DVD, MC changes the extensions to ".DVD; 1". It took me a few days to figure out why MC was telling me the file did not exist when I tried to play it through an external player. If I change the file name tag back to IFO,VOB, etc., everything works fine. I have several videos I want to tansfer to the hard disk, but I don't look foward to changing the extensions back to their proper name. Is there a way to prevent MC from doing this?
