MC on PPC Mac
« on: July 23, 2008, 05:40:29 pm »

I'm brand new to Macs.  I use a G5 tower at work and would like to see if I can get MC running on it.  Is it possible?  Would be great, even if it's slow.  I just want to listen to music.  Now I'm using an external hard drive with my music and cover art--so it works great in iTunes (100% cover art in cover flow) but MC is better.

Windows environment on PowerPC chipset is only emulated, so not a great platform to run MC on.  If you have an Intel Mac, then VMWare or Parallels will run MC directly on the processor.  Nearly as fast as natively, and with coherence (Parallels) mode you hardly notice another OS in the way..

I am now running an Intel Mac Pro (tower) at home and solved the problem with a dual monitor KVM switch.  I now run both a Windows & Mac simultaneously.  The only disadvantage is that all together, my two towers, two large monitors, speakers, and 10 lamps around my desk draw over 500 watts.  Thankfully I have my own air conditioned zone.
