Moving PLUS to a larger computer?
« on: July 30, 2002, 01:35:26 pm »

A little over a week ago, I purchased the PLUS version of Media Jukebox so that I would be able to rip my CD collection into high quality MP3s, however, I ran out of room on my harddrive and have decided to switch to a different computer... How do I switch the PLUS capabilities to my new system?  Without plus I can only rip WMAs which my mix board does not recognize!! HELP! I don't want to have to purchase the same thing twice in two weeks!  :(
After my purchase I expected to recieve a user's guide and the master CD, so I wouldn't have to fumble around on a website I know nothing about.  I am very unhappy that I have no direct access to tech support... bulliten boards are not something I am familiar with or have had much luck with and I am working under a tight schedule!  :(
Anyone who can help me out... I would really really appreciate it!YOUR NAME

This should be what you need:

And I think if you hang in there, you'll find that there are a lot of people around here who are happy to help.

Take care.

If you use "reply", your message will be in the same thread.

Oh.... okay... I'm starting to get this.
Now... if I'm reaching the correct people?
Where do I find an MP3 plugin for media jukebox?
When I first purchased the program, I went to Settings, Options, Encoding, and clicked on MP3 and THEN it asked me if I wanted to download... this time I cannot find an MP3 option anywhere and when I start the program its still asking me to purchase PLUS.
Whats up with that?

I hope I'm not just replying to myself...
Okay... before I was reading the responses from my email and not the website... so I was confused about what everyone was refering to, but I went to "Jukebox" to look for a plugins page and still couldn't find one... I keep going back to the main download page... which I don't need...
I am really sorry, but I am a computer idiot... all I want to do is rip my CDs into a database system.

Install MJ 8, then when you go to rip, choose "MP3" from the encoding options.  It may need to download the plugin the first time, but it's basically automatic.

After that, you should be able to rip away...

I went to rip and opened th encoding options, but MP3 was not available as a choice... only Windows media, external encoder, ogg vorbis, and uncompressed wave.
What do I do now?

I need to go pick my children up from daycare and do not have a direct internet link at my home... but I will dial up and check in a few... Thanks!

Once you have MJ8 installed, click this link: MP3 Encoder for v8 (It's on the Encoder Plugin Page)

Then you can configure the ripping to use this encoder (it's in the options (Settings/Options/Encoding) from the main MJ menu at the top of the program. Choose "MP3 Encoder"

I personally would use LAME VBR (MP3 Encoder VBR) to make mp3s but that's another topic.

This info should be right but sometimes I don't think straight and get stuff mixed up sometimes.
