Zones keep changing of their own accord - pls help noob
« on: September 20, 2008, 09:28:18 am »

hi,

i have MC v12.0.487 running on windows xp media centre edition.

i have an m-audio delta 1010 4zone soundcard with all zones used.
i'm not using the on motherboard audio out for anything at all.

Question is, every now and then if the pc is off (or standby) for a few days, i come back and turn it on, select my zone but the output has changed....

i have set it up for the following...
zone1=Kitchen (m-audio direct outputs 1/2)
zone2=Bathroom (m-audio direct outputs 3/4)
zone3=Garden (m-audio direct outputs 5/6)
zone4=Conservatory (m-audio outputs 7/8)

sometimes it changes on its own to...
zone1=Kitchen (m-audio direct outputs 3/4)
zone2=Bathroom (m-audio direct outputs 5/6)
zone3=Garden (m-audio direct outputs 7/8)
zone4=Conservatory (can't remember but its not 1/2!)

Why is this happening & how do i stop it? Its driving me round the bend!!!!!

Many thanks in advance, Jim

I'm not sure.  I have an XP box that switches the default sound device all the time.  I've wondered if the driver is slow to load or something so the system remaps things on boot.

It might be possible to side-step your issue by using ASIO vs DirectSound vs WaveOut for some of the zones, since they allow different routing mechanisms.

Cheers Matt,

I tried setting all four zones to ASIO - seemed to work ok when playing individually, the minute i try to play more than one zone at once (same track/different track/whatever...) it says no.

Is it just me having this problem & does anyone have a solution.....

Is there some way to disable this remap thingy & just wait until the driver is loaded maybe.....

Surely i'm not the only one out there with an maudio card???
