Status: CDDB: HTTP processing error (82fa0026)

Privet Nikolai, kak delishki?

Yes, I am behind a firewall; Norton Internet Security 2001.  It doesn't seem to be the culprit, though.  If I disable it, it's still the same.  Here's what happens:

  • I click on the Compact Disc node in MJ
  • I get your "Please Wait..." dialogue saying "collecting info" or some such.
  • After a few seconds the dialogue displays the error message:
    Action: Accessing disk CDDB information
Status: CDDB: HTTP processing error (82fa0026)
  • If you look very carefully, you can see it pop up twice.
  • Now, if you open a window on top of that dialogue, you are then locked out of MJ.  It keeps playing, but you can't get focus on it.  Eventually you have to stop it with Task Manager.
  • If you acknowledge the dialogue, MJ crashes and logs an error to DrWatson.

    Here's all the log details:

Norton Firewall (both messages appear twice)

    Connections log
Connection:  service.cddb.com: http  from  dual-piii-1gig: 2186,  685 bytes sent,  3071 bytes received,  0.218 elapsed time

    Privacy log
Allowed User-Agent: SL CDDB 2.0 sent to http://service.cddb.com//service/2.0/product/1

    System Log (3-25 seconds earlier)

    Source: atapi
The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period.

    Application log DrWatson

The application, , generated an application error The error occurred on 07/20/2002 @ 11:24:52.593 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 005BB1AE ()

I think the problem may have started a couple of days ago.  I accidently inserted a disk into my SCSI burner (which I hadn't previously used for ripping).  MJ automatically installed something when I did that ((ASPI layer?).  Does that help?

Lastly, here's my system info (again):

I'm not sure at all about this case, but we have seen many times before that a firewall disabled is not necessarily inactive.  Uninstalling in certain cases was necessary.

    Hi JimH,

OK.  Firewall gone and not a lot has changed.  Nothing on the logs now.  The non-responsive device message may have been because I had EAC open at the same time.

MJ will now not automatically attempt to connect to CDDB.  When I connect manually, I get the same error.  But now, it neither locks nor crashed MJ.  (Progress, I suppose).

Can I put my firewall back now?

PS "Dobruiy vecher" to YOU, but it's very much "den" over here already.

Happy Monday morning, MJ guys and other US types.

No idea what went wrong.  Uninstalled then re-installed MJ and it's working fine now.
