why [Artist] = "Assorted ?
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:07:18 am »

hi,
I have a function to rename the audio file and place it in the correct directory.
It works very good but sometimes I get a value of "Assorted" instead of the content of [Artist].
It happens when the file is originally located in a deep sub dir and will be moved closer to the drive's root.

if I rename twice. the 2nd time is ok.

can someone help me out?

ok,
I un-checked the "use assorted" on the rename dialog window and it fixed the problem,
the question is why MC12/13 thinks that there are multiple "artist" values ?

check your artist names carefully - assorted won't happen if all artist names are absolutely identical

hi, thanks,
I see...
Whenever an album has several songs (each performed by different artist) the [Album Artist (auto)] becomes
(Multiple Artists) the "rename/move" tool changes the Artist to be "Assorted".
the question remains why after the 1st move the Artist returns the correct name... (a bug?)
does the [Album Artist (auto)] check the artists at the same directory? (I tried to changes the album name and the multiple got the correct name even at the same dir)... strange...
